[When Yosuke texted him earlier in the week that he was coming over to Tokyo, Yu almost jumped from the sixth floor of the apartment complex he was living at. From happiness. It's been way too long since he last saw Yosuke. True, he went to visit over the summer, but the days got all filled up with visiting here, going there, and it was mostly with the whole group. He didn't get to sit down with Yosuke and have a nice, long talk.
He really missed those. And the croquettes too.
So when the day for meet up finally rolled in, Yu left the apartment with more time to spare than he needed. Yes- he is excited and there's nothing he can do about it. And after year in Inaba, he's more than comfortable to show it. He was, however, worried about Yosuke. Sure, his friend lived in the big city before, but this is Tokyo. Even Yu gets easily lost if he doesn't pay attention or if he is visiting part of the town he doesn't go to often.
He jumps when his phone rings, and answers after a single ring. And what do you know- his hunch was actually correct.]
Didn't you ask the front desk at the hotel how to get to the train station? [Because their meeting place is just one train ride away.] Is there someone around you can ask for directions?
Well, yeah, I asked. But I think I took a wrong turn somewhere.
[He sighs, looking around. Honestly, whatever part of Tokyo he's in, each block he's been on in the last few minutes looks the same as the last. Which is dumb. Shouldn't the areas by a hotel be easier to navigate?]
No one. It's completely deserted... Though there may have been a restaurant a few blocks back. Guess I can go back and ask there.
[Yosuke wandered off into a residential area? Damn it, it's one thing when a person gets lost somewhere with flashy buildings or something recognizable. This way, Yu had no idea how to lend him a hand.]
That sounds like a good idea. I wish I could actually help you out, but from the sound of it, you are in the residential area.
[There is a short pause as he waits for train to stop and noise die down before he speaks again as he boards the train.]
Try to get back to the hotel you stayed at and I will meet you there.
Yeah, ok... Sorry about this, partner. I'll see you there.
[He hangs up, muttering something about large cities, before turning on his heel to try and retrace his steps. If Yu isn't there when he finally manages, he'll take a seat in the lobby to wait.]
[The reason they agreed for Yosuke to take a train ride was to lessen the travel overall. Yu felt bad for making him wander out like that when he doesn't know anything about the city and surroundings. He should've gone straight to the hotel.
He sent a quick text to Yosuke that he's at the hotel before entering. The place was in the busy part of the city so it was easy to find. If only he could spot Yosuke in this crowded lobby it would be awesome.]
[Living in small towns for too long seemed to have its drawbacks, though it wasn't as if navigating such a large city was easy in the first place. A cab might have been more effective.
But what was done was done, and when the text comes in, Yosuke moves towards the entrance, it taking only a minute to spot who he's looking for... And start waving him down.]
[Cab would've been more expensive though, which is why they tried this in the first place. Yu is glad that Yosuke didn't get so hopelessly lost to never find his way back.
At the sound of his name, Yu jumps and frantically looks around. The familiar mop of orange hair in the throng of people in black business suits- it was a beautiful sight for sore eyes.]
Yosuke! [In hurried steps, he walks over to him, a wide smile on his face.] Are you alright?
You did get lost, but I guess that's just your karma.
[Yu teases lightly but there's no malice behind it. It feels like an eternity passed ever since he helped Yosuke out of his trashcan predicament. That was certainly a memorable way to meet someone.]
[Once they are on the street he looks around. Where can they go first? Well- the first thing that Yosuke did when Yu came to Inaba was to treat him food so...]
First, we will get something to eat. My treat. Are you feeling up for something sweet or savory?
New? In Inaba? Did you hit your head and forget since you left?
[The last is obviously a joke, since there's no way the guy who had the whole town going on about "New student! Everyone knows before you even came" until the murders began could forget.]
Yeah. Nanako's got pretty tall in just a short time. Your Uncle... [He just sort of shrugs with an indication of 'what do you expect?'] He's his usual self. Work, work, work.
[They arrive at the train station and board the train to take them to the busy, shopping district. The amount of people is staggering, but it is nothing unusual. A lot of shops, food places and hang out spots are open and Yu ponders where they should go.]
Don't you ask Nanako when you call, though? Or have you been forgetting to?
[He's just as aware as Yu that the kid is lonely, and like everyone else in the group, he tries to swing by sometimes to hang out so she isn't always lonely; even if her old man has been better since everything happened.
But all that doesn't matter as he grins at the suggestion.]
Sounds good to me! I mean, noodles are great and all, but it's nice to get something different! That doesn't come from Junes.

Well, I didn't roll in any trashcans or fall into any Tv's, so I guess my luck is improving?

Ready to go?

[He speaks quietly on his next words, as if the person he's speaking of is nearby and could hear]
Just don't tell Chie I said that, ok? I'd never live it down.
[And then he's back to his normal level of speech, stuffing his hands into his pockets]
Definitely ready! Where to first?
no subject
I swear, no word will leave me.

[He smiles back. Meat is always the way to start off the day. They head towards the train station, Yu's hands in his pockets.]
So, how's Inaba? Anything new?

I suppose you're right. Have you seen Nanako and Dojima? I hope they are doing alright.

What is your opinion on okonomiyaki?
