[Yu felt his heart skip a beat. He waits for several moments while Akira's texting (probably someone to check on Morgana), before tackling him back on the bed. Stealing the kisses in the process.]
I'm glad to have an expert look after me then, [Yu grins at him. There are so many things he wants to do now- aside from kissing Akira the whole evening. They still have dinner to eat, then maybe watch movies on the couch with cups of hot chocolate, then... share a blanket on the same bad as they sleep.
He climbs off of Akira and finally gets off the bed completely.]
Let's eat that dinner. [Yu offers Akira his hand to pull him up off the bed. After they eat, they can kiss and cuddle all they want. Yu doesn't want to be a bad host.]
[Whoa! He wasn't expecting to be tackled into position, but it's... nice. Is this a little bit of possessiveness already coming from Yu?]
Heh... so excited. Maybe we'll have to sleep in different beds tonight.
[Not that it's actually going to go down like that, because he's already trying to figure out if he should be the big spoon or the little spoon when they're cuddling and getting ready for bed. And then there's the matter of being surrounded in things that smell like Yu, and he wonders if Morgana ever feels the same way about being curled up in his own bed. Akira's never slept with anyone human before.
And before he knows it, Yu is already up and away from him. Drats. He was just about to tease him about how he should his bed closer to the window so certain experts could just slide in here for any sort of nighttime rendezvous----- which is exactly why he needs to put better locks on things.
Mostly so Akira can practice lockpicking.]
Yeah? [He takes his hand and stands up.
Ah.
Right. Food.]
I can always count on you to keep me well fed. Thank you, darling. [He says it almost sarcastically, like it's not cool to call your boyfriend "darling," even though he totally meant it.]
I do have a spare futon, [Yu says hesitantly, not really wanting to actually bring out the said futon. He might sneak under Akira's blankets during the night and he's not good at the stealth things.
When they make their way to the kitchen, Yu immediately goes for the piles of food he prepared earlier. They are not completely cold, thankfully, so Yu doesn't have to bother to warm the food up. He pulls out the plates and utensils-]
It's not a problem, honey, [Yu says with a teasing smile and hands him over the plates.] Can you set these up for me?
[Not a chance in hell that Akira is going to skeep on a futon when a) he already has that opportunity every night in Leblanc, b) there's a perfectly warm, comfortable bed giving him an appetite for its soft sheets, and c) uhm.... Yu? Why would he pass up the possibility of burrowing his head right into his shoulder for the entire night, if not even just for the sole chance to make Yu's arm fall deathly asleep and he has to deal with it being rubbery in the morning.]
Wow, we've already moved onto marriage.
[He takes the plates anyway, mocking at how freaking domesticated this is, even though they've only been together what- 15 minutes now? He's already longing for the nightlife again (well, not really, but it seems better than putting plates out and making sure the silverware is in perfect alignment with itself and whatnot).
Either way, he obediently complies with the request.]
... Does the fork go on the left, or the right, sweetie?
[He's looking forward to cuddling Akira as well. There's no one else he'd rather share the bed with. Briefly, he wonders if he should freak Yosuke out with 'bro I have a thief in my bed' or something similar.
He puts bowls with food on the table where Akira placed the plates, grinning from ear to ear. Did this turn into some kind of competition of who will come up with cheesiest nicknames? Because Yu's all up for that.]
It doesn't matter, sugarplum, you'll use it anyway.
[If a certain Yosuke were to get that type of text, he'd be on the next train in the morning to Tokyo, trying to smuggle kunai in his pockets, okay? That's probably not the type of thing he wants to walk in in anyway- Yu and Akira cuddling and dead asleep in Yu's bed.
But god... that petname. That has to be the worst he's ever heard. Does anyone actually even use 'sugarplum' these days? He pictures a granny talking to him like that... and smirks.]
Are you calling me a fairy now?
[Looking down at the plates, he's organizing, and reorganizing. Okay, but seriously, is the spoon on the left or the right? He picks it up, looking at it. Oh well. It doesn't really matter. He turns to Yu, spoon still in hand, suggestive in a way.
[He'd end up trying to bail Yosuke out of the jail. Only this time he'd be alone and there would be no Dojima to fix stuff.
Yu can be pretty horrible when it comes to teasing and he has zero shame once he starts. Akira is going to learn it the hard way- by being called sweet names that no one, not even grandmothers, uses anymore.
Sitting down next to him, Yu leans on the table, his eyebrow raised-]
Spoon feeding me? How romantic.
[The other spooning will definitively happen, Akira doesn't even have to ask. But this- this is a golden opportunity. And Yu's waiting patiently with not-so-hidden excitement on his face.]
[Wow, ok. So this is what Yu's into. Akira's learning stuff every day about his new boyfriend. He can be the little baby bird, no problem. He turns the spoon horizontal and gently glides it through the air, landing right as his nose, missing his mouth entirely.]
Oh. Sorry. I never did finish my pilot license classes.
[Akira, sitting there next to Yu, just smirks. Given the opportunity to be insanely cute or bitterly sassy, 9 times out of 10, he's going with the route that ends up making Yu shake his head.
He picks up the napkin, leaning over to gently wipe away at his nose.]
Darling, you have a little smudge on your face. Let me take care of that.
[When Akira "accidentally" misses giving him food with a spoon, Yu can't hold it back anymore and bursts out into chuckles. He lets his boyfriend clean him up, but he can't hold back the laughs.]
Thank you, darling, you're so kind.
[And with Akira being so darn cute with all this act, Yu just has to smooch him. Shortly, of course. They can't get too distracted at the table.]
[The sound of that laughter really guts Akira from the inside. It's enough to make him blush, at least momentarily, which is.... probably the tenth time tonight. He's done more of this in the past month than he has in his entire life.
Jokingly, he pushes Yu away from that kiss.]
You're going to get food all over my face.
[He fake cleans himself up with the same napkin, thanking god that it provides a barrier against the dumb smiling that he's wearing right now, which is far, far less fashionable than this persona mask.]
What type of boyfriend would I be if I didn't spoon feed his hot arm candy, who has two perfectly working arms and hands?
[The hand that's pushing him away gets kissed instead. Yu doesn't mind. And while persona mask makes Akira look all cool and suave, Yu actually prefers that smile on his face. Hopefully, he's one of the reasons for that smile.]
I'm hot, hmm? Thank you~
[He picks one of the pieces of the food and offers them to Akira. Nicely.]
[So that's the part that Yu took away from all of this? A sly comment about his physical features--- not that he's wrong in any way, shape, or form. Yu really is breathtaking by his own regards, and Akira doesn't have it in him to argue back, or say something cool and casual. It's a little too far for casual at this point, anyway.]
Mmn? I'm sure you performed spectacularly.
[Akira leans forward and opens his mouth to take a bite of the offered food, and of course, it's damn near perfect even if it's cold from the lack of attentiveness either of them could afford their dinner in forgoing its warmth for... other types of warmth. Like kissing.
God, he could eat Yu's cooking all the time. He probably has a dumb, enchanted smile on his face when he's chewing, because it's so obvious.]
This is exactly the right type of flavor profile. I'm jealous... I can't mesh anything together without a recipe.
[Yu was cooking for Akira and every bit of food he prepared was with him in his mind. To get a compliment that it was good was better than top grades in school he receives. He has a small smile of his own, watching Akira chew, and can't help but admire just how beautifully that smile settles on his face. A warm expression.
It makes Yu's heart skip several beats.]
Hmm... it's all about the practice I think. [He takes a piece for himself. It's not bad... maybe he should've used more soy sauce.]
If you want, you can cook next time with me. [There's a small feeling that the cooking will turn into 'flour battle' at some point, but he loves the thought of it.] I can show you a trick or two.
[Although, it would be nice to get some cooking lessons, so that he could... maybe?
Okay, one day he'd really like to treat Yu coming home from somewhere with a nice, candlelit dinner that has something a little more complicated than a stew of curried veggies or bowls of ramen. Of course, he'd sneak in when he wasn't around to prep the entire thing, which might cause further degradation of Yu's heart and lead to his untimely heart attack one day, but---- details, details.]
Ryuji ate the failures I made anyway, so at least it didn't go to waste.
[Which honestly shouldn't be possible- you can't eat food and actually lose energy, right?]
[Well- as long as Akira didn't barge in when his parents are around it would be great. Yu knows who he is and what he does, but his parents would definitively call the police and Yu wouldn't be able to help him.
Yu smiles-] Well, as long as you don't turn it into 'Mystery Food X' that oozes purple, you're doing great and you have a chance on improving.
[What amateur thief would get caught by his boyfriend's parents? He's definitely going to do the homework necessary- but Yu seems to be alone a lot, it can't possibly be very long before his family is away again.
Which is... kind of sad. He doesn't like the idea of Yu spending night after night without anyone to keep him company. Totally hypocritical though, he does it himself just fine. Maybe one night he could come to Leblanc.]
So, is oozing green okay? Or is it in the same vein as oozing purple? Because... ah... Well, nevermind, you'll see.
[He smirks, picks up a piece of tofu sans a proper eating utensil and pops it in his mouth. Charming as ever.]
[Yu would be more than happy to spend every evening with Akira. However, he doesn't want to get in the way of his thieving job. He wants to be Akira's support, not his hindrance.]
G... Green huh? [There's a huge mental sweatdrop there.]
Green usually marks poisonous stuff, doesn't it?
[Okay, now he's scared to try Akira's cooking. And that's saying something.]
[He has to think about that. Green stuff isn't usually... indicative of healthy things when it comes to prepared meals, unless it's broccoli (yuck?) or spinach (yuckx2?) or other cruciferous greens (yuckx3?).]
Well... Ryuji didn't die, so that's... a positive.
[There was that one time that they had to take an extra 20 minute stop in a safe room, and he wasn't entirely proud that he had caused it. But it's not like he held the bowl of curry in front of his best friend and said, "EAT THIS OR ELSE"- he kind of just offered. It was already kind of a pain to carry food stuffs into palaces to begin with, so he really just wanted to be rid of it by the end of their day's progress.
But if Yu is patient enough, he'd soak up all his wisdom in the kitchen. And the living room. And the bedroom. (Heh.) Finishing up his meal, he leans a little back in his chair.]
I really appreciate the home cooked meals.
It's weird, they make me kind of homesick, in a way. But I guess, after a while, this feels a little more like home every time I come to see you.
That's... reassuring? [Yosuke didn't die from girls' food either but he was close. Very close. They both were. Gosh, talking about the inability to cook the food brings back memories. Way to get sentimental.
Yu just likes to cook. Aside from having to feed himself because his parents are away, he thinks that cooking could be calming... of sorts. He especially likes making chocolate chip muffins. There's something so enchanting watching them rise and bake in the oven.]
It does? [That really takes Yu by surprise. He never thought that his cooking was that spectacular. It's... ordinary. But...]
Well, I guess I'll have to make bento for you from now on. [He tries to say it casually, but he's blushing as well.]
[As far as Akira is concerned, he can't stand watching a pot boil- even though he's instructed to do so every time that Sojiro instructs him on making curry. He always thinks it's better to multitask, to use the time to prep the veggies, or fry the meat, but there's an art to all this that requires the perfect temperatures to start bringing out the profiles of difference tastes in the garden ingredients. So he can appreciate, at least, the end result, even if the path to get there wasn't as alluring.
Which, honestly, could be said about so much in Akira's life.]
Before my parents thought I was a burden...
[Nah, that's too annoying to bring up now, anyway. This is a good place to be, it doesn't need to be inundated with memories of his life prior to the conviction in court. Look ahead, not backwards.
But the thought of someone making him bento? It's probably too much work to impose on anyone.]
That seems like a lot of work. Don't put yourself through all that trouble for me.
[Yu slowed down in his chewing, expecting Akira to go on with the story. But when he didn't, he only nodded. It is hard to open up about things like this. His friends might've not had problems with their parents but it was still very delicate. Tact and pace- things Yu learned while supporting them. And soon enough, the opened up, talked about their thoughts and problems and Yu was happy to be of help.
He's now dating Akira. But it doesn't change the fact that they don't know much about each other. In fact, Akira is a pure enigma for Yu and he can sense a lot of... sadness(?) radiating from him. When he thinks Yu's not looking at him. He has a look that Yu probably had once.
The weight of the whole world on his shoulders.]
Mnn. It's not a trouble. [Yu shakes his head.] My grandfather used to say: 'If there's food enough for one, there's enough for two'. [He chuckles-] I'd be really happy if you're up to spend lunchtime with me from time to time. [Blush. A lot of blushing.]
[He stares at Yu for a moment, and for that brief second, he swears the other is a blank slate, a mirror that reflects himself back at him, and it kind of catches him by surprise. He's getting protagged- that subtle, warm, supportive kind of voice that Akira always uses on the people he cares about when they present problems to him. And wow, it's actually... really effective? He shouldn't feel like patting himself on the back, and yet...]
Is that what I sound like? [He mutters it, low and under his breath.
But right. They're dating now. Doesn't that mean he has to stop guarding himself about every tiny detail in his personal life? Or maybe not the details, he was fine explaining the tide of events, like an objective news article that says "In today's forecast, there will be a stolen heart and lots of apologizing." - but when it came to the emotions behind those current events? Akira was pretty emotionally stinted at opening himself up to people.
He has to take the plunge. At least with someone that he's falling for. Genuinely, like he feels just... more himself around Yu, and that thought, although relatively troublesome in the fact that he's supposed to be an enigma, is warm. He likes Yu so much.]
Your grandfather sounds like a wise man. I should take his advice and have lunch dates with you. I'm yours after all, right?
[He pushes the plate inwards to the table a little, signifying that he's done with the meal. There's a small sigh.]
My parents see me as the black sheep of the family now. They don't... call, or text. It's like I don't even exist to them anymore. I didn't think I'd care, but, when I'm sitting here with you, and you've made all this food from scratch, I get a little homesick.
[He scratches the back of his head. It felt awkward saying it, but he knows it's the right thing to do.]
Sorry, I'm not really used to telling people how I feel, so... it feels awkward. I don't think that I've ever felt this way about someone before, so I'll work harder. For you. Us. Whatever.
Hmm? Sound like what? [Yu didn't catch the whole thing but it made him curious. He is a very patient person, for unknown reasons. Maybe it's because of his parents, maybe it's something in his genes. It doesn't matter in the end and he's happy that he's like that.
When Akira feels like sharing his feelings, Yu will be there to lend an ear. Especially now when they started dating. He wants to be there and support him, help him out in any way he can.]
He is, in some areas. [Yu chuckles.] Otherwise, he's a very stubborn man that can fish for 12 hours straight. [His grandfather is a doozie and generally fun to be about- if you love hearing about fish a lot.
Yu was done with his own meal as well and got up to clean up the dishes. He placed them all in the sink. Leaning on the counter where they were eating, he listens intently to what Akira has to say. Parents huh? He walks over and takes his hand, getting him off the chair and heads for the couch in the living room.
Once they settle down, he speaks up-]
People are afraid of change. I've seen it a lot. But they are still your parents and they do care about you. However, we live in times where expressing feelings of concern is seen as 'embarrassing' and 'over the top'. [He smiles, lacing their fingers together-] They will call you. Or why don't you call them? To prove them that you're not the troublemaker they think you are.
And don't worry about that. I'll always be here to listen to you. [Yu leans over to kiss his forehead.] I'll work hard as well, so you can count on me anytime.
shows up late with a cup of starbucks in hand to share!
[Yu... is really perfect, in a lot of awful, beautiful ways. He's the type of guy that you could fall for, straight into an abyss of attachment, swirling downwards and never able to reach up out of the hole because it's so comfortable to have that weightless, free, downward drifting feeling. He loves hearing Yu talk about his family, because in a way, it makes him feel less sad about his own, and as they're guided to the couch, he sits with him without objection.
He's not one to express this sort of thing, but being cared for feels a lot different on the receiving end than it does when he's the one who is doing it for other people. So much of Akira's recent life has been trying to go unnoticed, living just under the radar so that the attachments he makes to people end up with them relying on him more than him relying on them. Some of that was changing, of course, because that's how true friendships go, but Yu. Yu was different.
So Akira leans back against the arm of the couch, taking his boyfriend with him so that he can position the other to lean against his body, on top. He presses his chin down a little so that his lips tingle with the feeling of those silver hairs against him, and breathes in that now familiar scent. An arm around his back, he traces small lines into him lazily with his fingers.]
Ah... if you're working so hard, the least I can do is try, yeah?
[If Akira told him that he was perfect, Yu wouldn't agree with him. When he's by himself, the thoughts that run through his head are something he never reveals. It's true that he fought for truth and never lies to anyone (well, some times, under certain circumstances, like his parents).
Being by himself, a lot of unnecessary thoughts cross his mind- unnecessary in his friend's opinions. After fighting off Izanami, he feels as if no one needs him anymore. Everyone moved past their fears and obstacles, but his fear, of being left behind, of being alone... no matter how many times he's told that he's not, it's still there. As a reminder.
He lets Akira pull him down, leaning comfortably against his shoulder, eyes trained on the TV. On the thing that changed his life upside down. That allowed him to find friends and then leave them behind. That allowed him to understand the shadows and personas and ultimately help out his boyfriend.
Is this fate? Or coincidence? ...maybe both.]
That's... really reassuring to hear, to be perfectly honest. [Yu says softly, fingers curling slightly into Akira's shirt.] Knowing what you're up against, I feel safe that you are the one up against them, bringing truth to the light. You are very kind and just person. And one day, everyone will see that. [Truth always finds the way.]

For you. Us. Whatever.

/eagerly accepts
