History: It's all in the cards~

Personality:

Souji Seta is exactly what he appears to be- polite, mature and exemplary second-year student. Currently, he is attending the Yasogami High in Inaba because his parents travel a lot for work. That forces them to move a lot and for Souji to change schools frequently.

In Inaba, he lives with his uncle Ryotaro Dojima and his cousin Nanako. Moving to the new school every year has become a dull affair for Souji, seeing as he’s done it before already, multiple times, but for people in a small town like Inaba, it caused a bit of commotion. That, and the fact that his expression remains polite and sometimes a bit emotionless, made a mysterious aura around him that got people curious about him.

Once you go past that exterior and that “mysterious veil”, you get to meet a genuinely caring person. A person that wants to believe that his life will have something more than just moving from city to city, a person that is willing to listen to others. Sometimes, he might not understand their position and where they are coming from, but he always offers them his help with anything they would need to overcome the obstacles in their lives and to share their burden. Even if he ends up just listening to them. Sometimes, that is more than enough.

The strongest trait that Souji possesses is honesty. He knows that people don’t tell truth in every situation, but he does prefer it over anything else. He is extremely honest himself, sometimes brutally (but he does mind his vocabulary about it!) and he wishes that the other people are treating him the same way. That makes him seem a bit naive and by the end of the game, Adachi calls him out on it, but he doesn’t care and actually accepts that as a fact.

Throughout the year, Souji faced obstacles that a lot of people never get a chance to experience. Who would have thought that coming to Inaba would get him some kind of superpowers and allowed him to enter the TV? At first, he was actually a bit freaked out but then- the murders happened. And Souji didn't hesitate to use his newfound powers of Persona to fight for his friends and get them out of danger. He felt responsible, after all. The TV murdered them and he had access to it. The guilt of not helping the people stuck in there would've eaten him alive.

Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Rise, Kanji, Teddie, Naoto- they were first closest friends Souji has ever made. And Souji promised to them (and himself) that he will always be there for them, whatever happens. Before his life in Inaba, Souji’s look on life was a bit pessimistic- he thought that there was this one road in his life that he will have to follow forever, all by himself. Throughout the year, that view changed drastically because of the bonds he made and the experiences he shared with his friends. He was taught that things aren't always black and white and that there are a lot of things he needs to learn about- that school and studying isn't everything.

Because of that, he will never hesitate to protect any of them in any instance, which makes him reckless. Souji doesn't hesitate to dive into the TV even if he never met a person before. His inner altruistic nature compels him to help anyone that is in a life-threatening situation.

Souji has a very perceptive nature and sharp mind. In the middle of the battle, he can think quickly on his feet and form a strategy- for his age. Aiming at the enemy's weakness or looking for a chance to escape- some people cannot stay calm and collected to pull it off. The safety of others always comes first and he will never compromise their lives.

At the beginning of everything, despite his intelligence, Souji’s self-confidence was very low, always second-guessing himself and the decisions he makes. He relies strongly on Yosuke’s support and the trust from everyone else on the team to help him. And in return, Souji does everything in his power to not fail the trust that was put into him.

His biggest fear is the fear of abandonment- a fear that had slowly cultivated throughout the years he spent by himself, moving from town to town. It was one of the reasons why he didn’t want to make friends. But, this time, he got extremely strong connections with others, bonds that filled him from within with happiness, and so the fear reached its peak. Because now- he had something to lose.

Like Nanako. Her falling into a coma and clinical death had sent Souji into a blind rage. He was angry and he seeing red, craved revenge, sought a way to punish the criminal and he didn’t care who it was, what means he will use, where the person was and whether the person was actually guilty or no. By some miracle, he managed to get himself to calm down and push through the pain, to realistically asses the situation before he did anything he would regret later.

With time, he learned to accept it and to live with this fear. He learned that even when people are separated they still share a bond, a connection that cannot be broken so easily. But the fear will always be there, something that will whisper in his ear at all times, a reminder.

Thankfully, his friends know how to be very loud.

And he wouldn’t change them for anything in the world.
